Background

2014
The PODD project was established.

The One Health Surveillance System, or PODD, has been officially launched and developed with funding from the first and second phases of the SGTF - Skoll Global Threats Fund (now known as the Ending Pandemics Foundation, USA) under the project name "PODD Project".

PODD was awarded the Bronze Award in the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) category at the ASEAN ICT Awards 2017.

Participated in the ASEAN ICT Awards 2017 as a representative of Thailand, held on November 29-30, 2017 in Cambodia.

PODD has been invited to present
its work at PMAC

PODD has been selected to present at the annual Prince Mahidol Award Conference (PMAC).

2019
PODD has been suggested as a system to address the country's health security issues

The G20 Health Report proposes the use of "One Health" approach to prevent the emergence of new zoonotic diseases that could potentially lead to global pandemics.

Originated as PODD, Chiang Mai University.

The PODD project has been established as an internal academic unit within Chiang Mai University, named the "One Health Surveillance Center" or "PODD Centre." It serves as a knowledge and information management center for the system, fostering knowledge creation in the surveillance and control of infectious diseases, prevention of pandemics, and mitigation of public health and environmental hazards.

The founding director of PODD Centre

Associate Professor Dr. Lertrak Srikijkar, DVM, has been appointed to the position of Director of the One Health Surveillance Center (PODD Center) at Chiang Mai University.

MIT Solve 2020

Health Security & Pandemics Pre-spillover Participatory Community Disease Detection Surveillance Category from MIT Solve - Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Grand Prize Winner
The Trinity Challenge

Grand Prize Winner of the Trinity Challenge awarded by Trinity College Cambridge in collaboration with 42 global organizations in the category of disease detection (Identify), selected from 340 teams representing 61 countries worldwide.

2022
PODD has won an award for
research and innovation

"Awarded the Research and Innovation Award for the high-impact academic work titled 'Participatory One Health Disease Detection (PODD)' at the Chiang Mai University High Impact Research & Innovation Expo 2022 held at the University's Main Auditorium on July 22, 2022.

2023
Prime Minister’s Digital Award 2022

Received the Prime Minister's Digital Award 2022 in the category of Digital Community of the Year for the development of the Community-based Elderly and Dependent Care System (PODD LTC), in collaboration with Huay Thrai Sub-district Administrative Organization, Mae Rim District, Chiang Mai Province. The award was presented by the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA) on February 7, 2023, at the Government House.

2024
The second director of the PODD Centre has been appointed.

Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Chiang Mai University appoints Dr. Nattakan Awaiwannont as Director of the PODD Centre.

Mission

1. Services: Include system usage, data storage, data utilization by government agencies, local government organizations and other organizations; as well as system and digital development services.

2. Maintenance: Maintenance, updates, and upgrades of digital systems, and maintenance of local government organizations and community networks using the system.

3. Research: Research to develop system usage, data utilization, and action research to establish the sustainability of the community’s One Health surveillance system, both in terms of organizational operations and digital systems.

4. Organizational management: Sustainable organizational management.
